Pediatricians Help Children to Get a Healthy Start

One of the most important things parents do is to provide their children with preventative medical care. Regular checkups and on-time immunizations ensure that each child is properly protected. These appointments help to identify small concerns when they arise, making them easier to correct. For parents, pediatricians are a reliable source of advice on everything that involves the welfare of their children. This includes sleeping patterns, behavioral issues and healthy diets, and much more. Every child should begin seeing a pediatrician in Westminster or anywhere else shortly after birth and throughout their school years. There are many reasons why this is important.

Planning Visits to Pediatrician can Keep Your Infant Happy and Healthy

Of course, you want your child to eat nutritious foods and be healthy. After all, eating healthy can help stabilize his energy, sharpen his mind, and even improve his mood. If your child is a picky eater, new research suggests that you shouldn’t worry too much. According to eating disorders specialist Nancy Zucker, kids with typical pickiness, such as refusing to eat vegetables, will likely outgrow their poor habit as they mature. Figuring out how to care for your newborn can be a nerve-wracking experience. Fortunately, a pediatrics office in Westminster can help you navigate your way through parenthood. Most pediatricians follow a designated schedule of check-ups through the course of a child’s life to assess their growth and evaluate their health. Parents should visit a doctor within the first week of birth, every month following until the fourth, at six months, and then every three months after until the two year mark. After this, most children should be fine with yearly check-up

Westminster Pediatrics: Protect Your Family from the West Nile Virus

Mosquito season has begun in Denver, and local environmental health crews have started testing mosquitoes across the city for disease last July 1, 2015. In a wet spring season like the one recently experienced by Colorado’s most populous region, water can start reaching places it doesn’t usually reach, giving mosquito eggs the amount of moisture they need to hatch. Crews will sample mosquitoes from 50 sites around the city. High mosquito populations will be tested for the presence of West Nile Virus (WNV), and then treated with an all-natural larvicide to try to contain their numbers.

Westminster Pediatrics: Top Health Concerns Among Kids During Summer

Summer is almost in full-swing, and by now, you’ve probably planned your family’s summer activities, including beach trips, camping, and various other outings. While enjoying the outdoors and the sun, however, make sure to look after your health and those of your kids, especially younger ones like toddlers whose immune defenses have not yet fully developed. Summer would be a good time to bring them to Westminster pediatrics specialists for preventive checkups. Furthermore, watch out for health concerns that many kids are prone to get every summer, including those discussed below. Asthma Flare-Ups The heat, humidity, and possibly high pollen levels can trigger and aggravate asthma attacks in children. Mildew growth in the home is another factor. Make sure you prepare and take all the necessary medications wherever you go, and consult a physician for any concerns, such as possible adjustments in prescriptions and management of symptoms.

A Pediatrician Guides You on Precautions for Risky Play and Activities

Is your child getting enough exercise? Experts at the Department of Health and Human Services recommend at least an hour of exercise a day for kids aged 6 to 17. This amount of activity will allow them to build and maintain their strength, endurance, and other physical skills and to prevent serious illnesses like heart ailments and cancer from afflicting their body. Likewise, the activity can improve their mood and overall mental health, which are invaluable in learning and development. Unfortunately, only a small percentage of American children are able to log the recommended exercise every day. According to a survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, only about 27.1% of high school students did so. This could be one of the top reasons why childhood obesity is prevalent in the country and why many kids struggle in school.
